Hospitality // Mira Hotel
The Mira Hotel pays homage to the timeless craft and innovation of George Nakashima's architecture and woodworking. The design creates a balance between large gestural circles and the intimacy of materiality. The boutique hotel features an indoor rock garden, restaurant, and bar. The hotel was planned with particular consideration of ceiling heights and scale in relation to the feeling of enclosure (private) and horizon (public). Lighting was also important to the creation of celebrated moments.

Cultural // Common Ground Ethiopian Community Center
Inspired by Ethiopia's ancient monolithic churches and the rhythmic stepping of the wood and concrete vernacular architecture, this community center combines cafe, retail, office, gathering, and educational spaces with a focus on material and form. The entrance features a concrete fountain. Its design was developed through a process of sketching, detailing, building a to-scale mockup, and modeling and rendering in Revit. Commercial // Arbor Publishing & Coworking
Arbor Publishing is a contemporary publishing house with co-working space and after school programming for local students. The design concept is derived from a grape arbor - a grid structure that supports the vine of creativity and knowledge to wind around and flourish. The vine is a custom organic seating element that guides circulation between departments and creates opportunities of break-out and collaborative work spaces.
